A Google Ads Client Report Template That Explains What Happened
Fernway Fitness, an illustrative client, had 142 trial sign-ups in January at $26 each. Its report opens on that, sets it against December, then says what changed and what comes next. Every result and cost in it comes from the Google Ads account, and the free Doc template keeps the same parts.
142 trial sign-ups in January, at $26 each.Evidence 1
Spend came to $3,720 across the three campaigns.
Evidence 1, for The title
The result in the client’s words, rounded from the account’s total for January.
| Conversions | Cost / conv. | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 142.00 | $26.20 | $3,720.00 |
How January went
Sign-ups rose by 58 from December, as more people looked for classes after New Year’s Day. Search, Classes brought 98 of them, more than twice December’s 44. Brand and Performance Max held close to December, at 26 and 18 against 23 and 17.Evidence 2
Evidence 2, for How January went
By campaign, against December.
| Conversions | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Campaign | Jan 1 to 31, 2026 | Dec 1 to 31, 2025 | Change | Change (%) |
| Search, Classes | 98.00 | 44.00 | +54.00 | +122.73% |
| Search, Brand | 26.00 | 23.00 | +3.00 | +13.04% |
| Performance Max | 18.00 | 17.00 | +1.00 | +5.88% |
What changed
On January 8, we added a sign-up form to the class ads, so people can ask for a free trial class in the ad itself. The form brought 31 of January’s sign-ups.Evidence 3
Evidence 3, for What changed
One change, its day and what it brought. The form counts as its own conversion action, so its sign-ups are plain to see.
| Conversion action | Conversions |
|---|---|
| Trial class booked | 111.00 |
| Lead form - Submit | 31.00 |
What comes next
From February 3, as New Year searches fall back, Search, Classes moves from $80 a day to $65. On February 16, we check its cost per sign-up against January’s $25.Evidence 4
Evidence 4, for What comes next
The next step, its day and its figure. The budget it moves and the cost it is checked against are the campaign’s own.
| Campaign | Budget | Cost / conv. |
|---|---|---|
| Search, Classes | $80.00/day | $25.00 |

Google Ads client report template
Replace each line in brackets, then delete the notes in grey. Write the title last.
[Results] in [month], at [cost] each.
Spend came to [spend].
Give the result in the client’s own words, such as sign-ups, calls or jobs, and the cost of each, rounded to the dollar. Then the month’s spend.
How the month went
[Your line for this client.]
The result against last month or the client’s target, by campaign. The cause first, then its figure.
What changed
[Your line for this client.]
One change, with the day it was made and what it brought.
What comes next
[Your line for this client.]
The next step, its day and its figure. Then anything the client told you that the account cannot show.
How to use the client report template
The template is one page. Its title says what the client got and what each one cost, and the three parts under it set the month against the last, give a change and what it brought, and name the next step with its day and figure.
Write the title last
Name the result in the client’s own words, such as sign-ups, calls or jobs, with the cost of each rounded to the dollar.
Set the month against the one before
Put last month or the client’s target beside the result, so the number has a reference. In the example, January’s sign-ups are 58 more than December’s.
Give each part one fact
How the month went gives the cause and the campaign that carried it. What changed gives one change, its day and what it brought. What comes next gives the next step, its day and its figure.
Add what only you know
Before it goes out, add what the client told you and the account cannot show, such as a new class, a sale or a closed week.
Why the template is the easy part
The three parts stay the same every month. The work is finding what moved each account, in its campaign report, its conversion actions and its change history, and saying it plainly for that client.

Questions and answers
What should a Google Ads monthly report include?
A title with the month’s result in the client’s words and the cost of each, then the spend. Then three parts. How the month went sets the result against last month or a target, by campaign. What changed gives one change and what it brought. What comes next gives the next step, its day and its figure.
How do I write commentary for a Google Ads client report?
Give each part one cause, one change or one next step, with its day and its figure, in plain sentences. Use the client’s words for results, such as sign-ups or calls, and round each cost to the dollar.
Does the template open in Google Docs and Word?
Yes. The .docx opens in Word, Google Docs and Pages. Its headings use Word’s own heading styles, so they stay headings wherever you edit it.
Is this a dashboard or a Looker Studio template?
No. It is a written report for the client to read, with the figures in its sentences. If you keep a dashboard of daily data, send the report with it.
Is there a free trial?
Eligible new individual, Team and Agency customers can start a five-day free trial. Select your plan, connect Google Ads and complete checkout with a payment card. The trial includes 25% of that plan’s monthly usage and the same model, Google Ads account and workspace limits. Team and Agency trials share 25% of the selected two-seat plan’s monthly allowance across two people. Unless you cancel in Settings → Billing before the trial ends, your selected subscription starts automatically at the monthly, quarterly or annual price shown at checkout.
Write every client’s report from the account, in their words
Spend 15 minutes reviewing a client report, not 90 minutes building it.
Each report gives the month’s result in the client’s words against last month, one change with what it brought and the next step with its figure. Parallel AI writes it from the Google Ads account as a Doc, and you add what only the client told you.
For a book of clients, one request writes each client’s report from its own account.
